So, high diencephalon injury creates a curved sensation space in which a curved patient feels at rest… and centered. They will seek the postures that we try to rid them of. Often we hear wailing when merely positioned correctly. THAT is dystonia. These abnormalities come from neural circuits that merely react and so they are not willed into or out of. Primitive centers detecting abnormality (patient aware or not) will drive these reactions.
