Maraim Speir (Killing Skies) G.F.E. McGuiness
I wonder where Her flowing hair
Would be if only I Had been a man And took her stand Beneath the killing skies. For healing pain I rake in vain, And lay an axe of blood.
But in that mess Her face afresh, If only I had stood. But I was young, and so, misled Of power from the pen. The hoary grasp knows birthright Vests in fighting fearless men. Will Zion and abyss be one? For time on earth extracts it's toll. As she remains so warm and young I wither cold and old. Don't pray for me. Don't stickle me To flirt with peace again. For in my brain The gnawing strain Of what I had and when.
I wonder where Her flowing hair
Would be if only I Had been a man And took her stand Beneath the killing skies.
